CloudNC raises $20M to automate manufacturing’s most pressing bottlenecks

UK-based manufacturing software startup CloudNC announced a $20 million Series B funding round on Wednesday, raising its total raised capital to $128 million.

UK-based manufacturing software startup CloudNC announced a $20 million Series B funding round on Wednesday, raising its total raised capital to $128 million. Founded in 2015 by Theo Saville and Chris Emery, CloudNC provides AI-driven CAM Assist software that automates key decision-making in CNC machining processes. CNC machining involves computer-controlled machines shaping materials into precise parts used in automotive, defense, and consumer hardware industries.

Before a part is cut, machinists or CAM programmers must decide on tooling, part holding, and machining strategies. Traditional CAM systems allow manual specification of machining parameters, but CloudNC’s CAM Assist automates tool selection, approach directions, and cutting feeds, drafting the CNC code for execution. Users review, edit, and approve the results, aiming to enhance efficiency and productivity without eliminating expert judgment.

Over 1,000 machine shops worldwide use CAM Assist, with 80% of customers in the U.S. CloudNC’s goal is to scale adoption through expanded go-to-market efforts, market expansion, and new product development like Quote Agent, which helps manufacturers assess project costs and risks. Quote Agent targets faster quoting and decision-making for manufacturers facing labor shortages and reshoring trends.

Investors include Nimble Ventures, Calculus Venture Capital, Entrepreneur First, and LM Capital (Lockheed Martin’s venture arm). The funding supports wider adoption, market expansion, and development of new products like Quote Agent, which is set to launch next month.
